LN-TFQ (P28A) got lost in snow and bad visibility tonight. After failed attempts at ENKJ and ENGM, a police helicopter escorted the lost pilot to a safe landing at ENHA. The webcam picture was grabbed short before the landing. The METAR at ENGM indicated overcast in 500 feet and 7 km visibility.BTW, this was my first attempt at covering a live event on Twitter, Facebook, Scanair, and Blogger...

Nice move, the information at your site is much better then the one at Dagbladet. I guess the pilot didn't have IFR certification and came into IFR after having taken off at VFR.

Kudos to the 56yr old fresh pilot from Oslo for handling this incident 100% correct.
Unfortunately some pilots make the wrong decision as to when ask for help, leaving them in dire straits.
Having worked as an instructor for several years I have found that fresh pilots are the safest and the most accurate compared with generated experience.
After some hundred hours in air as PIC, the pilots tend to make their own pattern and procedures, and this is not always positive.
I'm glad this incident never grew to an emergency.
