Petter's Flying Fun Day

Sigrid, Lise, Tone, and Liss had fun flying with Petter (6), celebrating him leaving kindergarten to start school this fall. His older brother Jostein also invited the nice people at Starveien Barnehage on a flight three years ago as he left for school.

Liss joined us for flying fun both times, and asked us to consider having more children...

Where are the flying boats?

Jostein and Petter familiarizing in LN-AEG by the dock at Kilen, after a visit to the grand "Båter i Sjøen" boat show by Sandvika. The boys had fun seeing all the nice new boats, and the good old AEG, but a picture of a flying boat in the Kilen clubhouse fascinated Petter the most. However, such a machine could we not spot at sea today.

Something old, something new

Øyvind (left) gave me a demo flight in the posh SR20 during the Cirrus gathering at Kjeller this weekend, and then Petter (over) joined me for my first flight in the good old C150. Quite different experiences. Both to be repeated.

Sigrid departing Oslo

My niece Sigrid (14) has stayed at our house the last week, working in Petter's kindergarten. Before returning for home and going back to school in Eksingedalen, she joined me for a flight over Oslo and Ski in LN-NEW.

Flying in an ash window

Petter and uncle Erlend ready for a 20 minutes evening flight between the ash clouds from Iceland. Most of the Norwegian airspace has been closed for four days, and might be closed again on short notice. While Swedish pilots were allowed to make decisions on flying piston aircrafts VFR, the Norwegian government decided to prohibit all operations. Hoping for better decisions by the authorities in the future, we had fun flying in the ash window.

Family flight

Petter, Jostein and Turid joined me for our fist family flight today. (We did fly in Florida two years ago, but then I was under instruction). On this occasion it was highly appropriate to use LN-NPK owned by the flying family Håkensen.

Jostein's farewell to kindergarten

Jostein (5 1/2) started at school this fall, and gave a flight in LN-NAG as farewell gift to the nice people working at Troll (Starveien Barnehage). Petter (3) just started at Troll this fall, and came along for the celebration. May-Britt, Liss, Elisabeth and Bente looked a little worried before takeoff (upper left), but the boys comforted them by falling asleep in air. And afterwards (bottom right), we could witness a happy crowd. :-)

My first airplane

Petter (1) and LN-NAG (28) at Kjeller. They are already good friends!

Friday 23 June 2006 I bought 1/9 of this aircraft, a 1978 Piper Cherokee, PA28-161.

After the 2003 collapse of the Oslo Flying Club hangar, this Piper was the only plane which could be saved and repaired. Today it is still part of the OFK fleet. It is probably the most travelled club aircraft in Norway, visiting most countries in Europe and Morocco as well.
